Workflow

How does SubFT fit into subtitle work?

Import or create a project, generate or translate content with AI jobs, refine in the editor, then export to SRT, VTT, or ASS.

What stays local?

Your media source files and exports stay on your device. This speeds up processing and keeps your content private.

What needs upload?

Subtitles as text and subtitles as images or audio files in case you decide to transcribe from them with AI processing.

AI jobs

When should I use transcription?

Use transcription to generate subtitles from audio or video when you don't have a subtitle file.

When should I translate an existing track?

Use translate to convert an existing subtitle file into another language while preserving timing.

What is OCR?

OCR (Optical Character Recognition) extracts text from burned-in subtitles or on-screen text in video frames.

Pricing and billing

What uses credits?

AI jobs - transcription, translation, and OCR - use credits based on file length and complexity.

When are estimates shown?

You'll see an estimated credit cost before you start any AI job. Nothing is charged until you confirm.

What happens if I cancel pending work?

If you cancel before the job starts, no credits are used. If it's in progress, you pay only for the work being completed.

Which formats work?

Import: SRT, VTT, ASS, SSA, TXT, CSV. Export: SRT, VTT, ASS. Video: MP4, MKV, MOV, WebM, M4V, AVI (for transcription/OCR).

Which browsers are best?

Chrome and Firefox (latest versions) provide the best performance and feature support.
