Core terms
These terms appear throughout the SubFT workflow and documentation.
- Project
- A workspace that groups media files, subtitle tracks, AI jobs, settings, and exports for one subtitle workflow.
- Media file
- A video, audio, or image file imported into a project for review, subtitle generation, editing, or export.
- Subtitle track
- A timed collection of subtitle cues in one language or format.
- Cue
- One subtitle segment with text and start/end timing.
- Sidecar file
- A separate subtitle file, such as SRT or VTT, delivered alongside the media file.
- Embedded subtitles
- Subtitles written into the media container during export.
- AI job
- A processing task that generates subtitle material from audio, text, or images.
- Credits
- Usage units consumed by supported AI processing operations.
- Export
- The process of creating final subtitle files, embedded media outputs, or archives from reviewed tracks.
